Life is wild sometimes, okay? I think we all understand that. But when you’re told “you have too much on your plate” or “maybe you need to let go of something” it can bring on a feeling of “ugh, I need to be able to accomplish this”
Unless you’re America’s sweetheart, then you probably have a hard time accepting those terms.
I was down, deeeeeply down. And don’t get me wrong I still have my days. But I was WELL aware that things were not going as planned, the kids weren’t on track with school, I was failing at content creation, my skincare routine & most importantly keeping up with my household.
I researched and researched and researched until finally the lightbulb went off. “I just have to combine it all.”
The routines, the decluttering, the habits etc.
Take this as your sign to have one big freaking reset. 4 days. You and me, or you and the paper you print, or you… whichever makes you feel good okay?
Make this blog post your comprehensive guide to getting your life reset and together. Take the time to work through it and I promise PROMISE promise you it will be worth it.
I’m one to vouch – from one burnt out mama, to this organized go getter. You can also do this.
Remember being a mom doesn’t mean messy bun and sweats ALL the time okay?
Let’s dive in sista
Day 1: SET your reset goal
- Give yourself a SLOGAN, for example if you want to reset your life to be more minimalistic, you need to start telling yourself your new slogan of “my items do not control who I am, and releasing them will help me feel lighter and better”.
Make a list of all the things you feel you need to accomplish. Then we’ll check in on day 2!
DAY 2: Start Decluttering
• Start with the physical clutter around you. Tackle high-traffic areas like your kitchen counters or living room.
• Pro tip: Use the “15-minute rule”—set a timer, clean/declutter for 15 minutes, and stop when the timer goes off to avoid burnout.
• Personal advice: use the Konmari method. And no! Don’t re-fold all your kids laundry. Just put all the junk in the center of whatever room you are in and start giving things homes, whether it be in the room you are in, or in the donation pile.
• if you are having a hard time, try using the “poop-method” (sorry, in advance if you’re not a mom) IF this item was covered in poop would you keep it? If the answer is no… you should probably get rid of it.
Day 3: Create a Simple Daily Routine
• Build a routine that works for YOU—wake-up time, homeschool/work time, meals, and downtime.
• Include at least one non-negotiable self-care activity (e.g., Bible study, 10-minute walk, or journaling).
• Tip: Print out a customizable schedule to keep yourself on track!
(PS THERE IS ONE BELOW!)
Day 4: LEARN Habit Stacking
• After you’ve created your routines, it’s time to turn them into habits! This is a sure fire way to make sure you get all the goodness in you while still attacking your other tasks.
• When you habit stack, you essentially want to stack another task on top of your routine, (i.e. “when I do my skin care, I need to drink 40 oz of water immediately to help hydrate my body & skin”).
PRO TIP: You can use any kind of notebook for this, you can grab a blank printer page or a notebook that has already been written in and just use the corner. Wherever you write your reset routines, make sure it is visible to you.
You don’t have to be perfect to feel in control. This 4-day reset gives you the tools to take back your time, energy, and focus. Remember, life is a journey—if it feels overwhelming, return to the basics and let grace guide you.
