Day in The Life of A Homeschool Mom

A Day in the Life of a Homeschool Mom

Ever wondered what a typical day looks like for a homeschool mom? Let me take you behind the scenes in this blog post of our daily routine. It’s a blend of structured schedules, spontaneous moments, and a lot of love. Here’s a glimpse into our day, from depending on the time we wake up to nighttime routines.

Morning Hustle

I will keep things very transparent and honest here on the blog, the past couple of months have been rough when it comes to waking up before the kids. I like to spend my nights separated after they have gone to sleep. But it’s been getting quite out of hand with the staying-up-late (I’m talking 12-1 am). And I plan to fix that of course.

Our mornings normally include going over our schedule for the day and adding in any activities that the kids might want to do. Lately it has been swimming. We always have breakfast together and start our online curriculums for my older two, and a busy book for my toddler. I also try really hard to print out any PDF’s I may have missed from my weekly curriculum planning. If you are a homeschool parent or you need to print a bunch of paperwork, I promise promise promise you that THIS printer is so worth the hype & the price.

Our online curriculum is only half a day and maybe takes my 5 + 7-year-old an hour to an hour and a half a day to get everything they need to do. We use MiAcademy and if I could be REAL transparent here: this is the best curriculum we’ve ever tried, and we’ve tried a LOT. (I’ve been doing this for 4 years now.) I won’t get into logistics, but I am obsessed with the amount of customization, the customer service, and overall, how much fun my kids have on this website.

and for my mamas that are a bit skeptical, yes MiAcademy is accredited. (No, this post is not sponsored.)

Mid-Morning Shift

anywhere from 11 am to 1 pm is our chow time, it’s the time for me to get to work on my first project for work each day and prior to that pack the kids’ lunches. We try to get some physical activity in before we start homework so normally it comes down to a picnic and heading out to the park for me to get my steps in.

Afternoon Rampage

After we get all the wiggles out and calories in our bodies, we start our homework block hour which normally goes from 4-6 or 7 depending on how goofy the kids are and how many science experiments we have to tackle.

Homework goes hand in hand with cooking dinner and every day we have a rotating schedule for who helps with dinner while the other two work on projects and worksheets together.

Witching Hour

Nighttime comes around not quick enough in this house, let me tell ya. After dinner its bath and bed real fast. And then we read 2-3 books, my two oldest do about 30 minutes of Hooked-On-Phonics, and that has been a life changer in our house.

I hope this blog post serves you well and IF you were trying or inquiring about homeschooling, I have a FREE checklist to help you cross off some boxes if you’re completely lost.

You can grab that HERE

I’ll see ya in the next one.
